Flights Resume at Philadelphia Airport After Bomb Threat

According to sources from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and local police, flights at Philadelphia International Airport were briefly halted on Friday evening due to a bomb threat, but the situation was resolved without incident.

The FAA issued a “ground stop” for the airport shortly after 7:00 PM local time (0000 GMT), citing the bomb threat. Approximately 30 minutes later, a new statement confirmed that the situation had been resolved and operations had returned to normal.

The Philadelphia Police Department stated that the halt was due to an issue on an aircraft requiring police intervention. The police confirmed that the aircraft was cleared for departure and that the ground stop was lifted.

Earlier this month, similar bomb threats were reported at other U.S. airports, all of which were resolved without incident. At the beginning of November, flights at Reagan Washington National Airport were temporarily halted following a bomb threat on a United Airlines aircraft, with the FBI later confirming that no danger was found during their investigation.
